Several former Trump administration officials have turned against Donald Trump, but few have done so with such damning specificity.
Anthony Scaramucci, the former Trump ally who served 11 days as White House communications director in 2017, is publishing lists of actions he says prove that Trump has been “compromised.”
“I’ll stipulate that Trump is an agent of Putin,” Scaramucci wrote on Tuesday.
“I think he’s been compromised by Putin,” he said in a video (below) he posted to social media. “One of the greatest foreign policy successes in post-czarist Russian history is the election of Donald Trump.”
“You can stipulate he’s not an agent of Putin, but let me tell you something,” Scaramucci continued. “He does every single thing that Putin wants. And if you look down the checklist he’s executed, he would get an A+. There’s no way another American president would have this behavior.”
Scaramucci said that Trump has “pulled himself out of an intermediate nuclear pact. Putin wanted them to do that, he pulled that out of it. That’s what Putin wants.”
On social media, Scaramucci offered a list of Trump’s actions, including threatening a NATO ally over Greenland and withdrawing tens of thousands of troops from Western Europe “while Russian bellicosity is rising.”
And this: “Russian satellites giving coordinates to Iranians killing our soldiers, and his response is ‘they kill us, we kill them’? What American president says that?”
Former Bloomberg Opinion columnist Noah Smith, who writes Noahpinion on Substack, responded to Scaramucci: “a lot of people try very hard to avoid the conclusion that our president is in Putin’s pocket, but at this point it’s not really a question. The only question is whether Putin is controlling him with bribes or with threats, or both.”
