Being the wife of a two war veteran that retired after 42 years of service, father-in-law, 2 war veteran with 35 years service, brother-in-law, 20 years service, 2 nephews, 25 years combined, I can only pray that there are enough veterans and active duty soldiers that recognize the direction in which this country is heading. My relationships with the military and soldiers give me some measure of peace.

Let's not kid ourselves -- for the fascists, this is the best possible outcome. They have seen how difficult it is to unseat democracy when the votes are in, even if they have a better playbook this time. We've also seen how easily the system can be manipulated -- anyone who believes Trump actually won in 2024 has got to be kidding themselves (after Trump and Musk openly bragged that they had it in the bag and wouldn't need to find any votes).

Everything we do right now should be about preparing for an extended work stoppage and a siege-like existence until the fascists flee the country. Just look at what’s happened recently in European countries, or look at what happened in 1978 before the Shah fled — that last example is a particularly good parallel for our situation now.
