David Badash is a liberal political journalist and digital media entrepreneur who has spent nearly two decades chronicling the intersection of civil rights, politics, and power in America. He is best known as the founder and former editor-in-chief of The New Civil Rights Movement — a news and opinion site he launched in 2008 that was at the forefront of the fight for same-sex marriage and LGBTQ rights. It became one of the internet’s most distinctive voices in advocacy journalism, earning a GLAAD Award in 2014. Badash retired from NCRM in July 2026.
Covering politics, public policy, litigation, and religion, Badash brings a commitment to accuracy and context that has earned him recognition well beyond his own platform. He lives in Provincetown, Massachusetts, with his Australian Cattle Dog, Jasper.
